I have a 2001 7.3 f-350 with 450k miles running on a 4R100 transmission. As I was driving; got a leak in the transmission pan gasket, my transmission ended up overheating, stalling and only ran after cooling down and filling it up with ATF. I flushed the fluid and it was black. Now the truck is slipping on all forward gears, only reverse works good.

Is it worth to do a rebuild at this point?
What figure is this gonna cost me if I try DIY, or is it cheaper/easier just buying a complete tranny?

Buy a reman or see if a local shop can rebuild it cheaper.

Sam wyse builds good transmissions for a little more than the ford units.
