I installed ICON Dual Steering Stabilizers and the problem in gone. Drives like a new truck.
That’s great news, jeffkrgutility; thanks for the update. :)

No Cory, that is NOT great news! When a consumer has to install aftermarket equipment on a vehicle to correct an inherent and dangerous condition on a truck that is BAD news. Your statement here is particularly poignant reminder of the continued disconnect between Ford and the public.

ford_doctor, I was referring to the fact that the truck is driving how he likes it.

Cory
Yes, of course, but he had to spend his own money to correct a condition that SHOULD NOT EXIST. He didn't modify the truck to ride the way HE LIKES IT... he HAD TO MODIFY IT to make it SAFE!

I’m on this forum to preemptively reach out to help if I see a concern. I was able to forward this information to the Customer Service Manager in his area to improve the awareness of this issue. I definitely appreciate your concern.

Cory
I can see that you are offering genuine assistance to those who need it but I don't see getting the production status on an ordered vehicle as "preemptive help." Meanwhile someone is fighting a severe steering oscillation episode as we speak and their 7,000 pound truck is skipping across two highway lanes. I have been in a few of these trucks and let me assure you they are not safe when this happens. I had an anxiety attack on one road test with a customer. Instead of contacting a Customer Service Manager try contacting a chassis ENGINEER. I know of one truck that has not been fixed even with all of the corrective measures Ford has published.

Front axle oscillation is not a new concern and it's not just Ford that has been dealing with this for decades. One would think that after all of this time OEM engineering would have figured out how to tame a mono-beam front axle. What's worse is that the "fix" apparently does not correct this condition on 100% of the affected vehicles.

I am sorry if I am coming across as disrespectful or argumentative. I truly apologize to you Cory. At the risk of embarrassing myself I am simply compelled to help drive this point home because I know that some of these people are not being heard and some of these trucks are not getting fixed. You read these forums here and others like them, right? You see the expressions of mis-trust and disdain some people hold toward Ford technicians, Ford dealers and Ford Motor Company? I am tired of being beat up. I am tired of feeling helpless. I am sure some vehicle owners are as well.

That is all I have to say about that.

Actually track bar issues will cause this concern and historically has been the major cause on Ford trucks from my experience. Any looseness in the bushing or the ball joint will allow the axle to oscillate once movement has begun. That also applies to the radius arms and steering gear.

"These sites" are chock full of bad information... but there is a lot of excellent and valuable information as well. The trick is weeding through it all. In all honesty, some dealership people should get their heads out of the sand and use the Internet as the resource it is... Look at Ford. Ford has been watching these sites for years and now they are participating.
