Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search and could not find anything on this subject. Please bear with me.

I have a '99, 7.3L and tow a 5th wheel 36' Toy box with a full dresser in the back. Is there a larger capacity tank available or is there an aftermarket additional tank that can be added?

Any other suggestions on increasing my distance per tank?

Thanks in advance for your assitance.

Yep, all sorts of swell options at TransferFlow.

Most popular is to change out the stock fuel tank with a bigger one. If that's still not enough, then mount a toolbox/fueltank combo in the bed for about 30 more gallons. Or if 30 more gallons is not enough, TransferFlow has auxiliary in-the-bed fuel tanks 50, 70, and up to around 100 gallons.

One of their in-bed fuel tanks is "L" shaped. Put it in the front of the bed, then add your favorite brand of toolchest over the lower part of the tank.

Three basic types of TransferFlow fuel tanks:

1) replacement

2) in-bed auxiliary plumbed into the stock fuel system.

3) in-bed transfer tank with a pump to transfer fuel from the transfer tank to the pickup's fuel tank. (Note that TransferFlow wants over $300 for their neat 12-volt electric pump!)

If TransferFlow is above your pay grade, then consider a cheap brand of transfer tank or toolbox/tank combo. The good 12-volt electric transfer pumps are expensive, but you can also buy a cheap manual rotary pump that a lot of farmers/ranchers and construction formen use for their hired hands to transfer fuel from the pickup's transfer tank into a tractor or other construction equipment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

example: Click here for Northern Tool 91-gallon transfer tank.

I have the 36 gallon Aft Axle Tank and absolutely love it. It brings my total fuel capacity to 65 gallons. Unfortunately, it requires the removal of the spare tire. However, mounting the spare in the bed is something I've been willing to live with in exchange for the extra capacity.

Hmm...I don't see that tank listed on the Transfer Flow website. I hope they still make it, as that's the best way to get a lot of fuel on a truck with a 6.5 ft. box.

I have the short box and have a 55-gallon replacement tank from AeroTanks in Corona CA. It doesn't require removal of the spare tire.

My point exactly.....
I've been looking at aerotanks aft aux tank(my spare doesn't fit there anyway), I didn't know transflow made one. It'd be nice to put more weight aft of the axle and evenly side-to-side.
I also thought about the 55 from aerotanks, but I'm wondering if the truck already lists to the left.
What are you guys paying for the main replacement tanks? How about the aft aux tank? I haven't found any prices yet.

My transfer flow aft axle tank system cost about $1100 from Unitrax in Anaheim, CA back in 2002. Despite the expense, it is probably the best upgrade I've made to my truck. It's a really great feeling to look at your fuel gauge when you're in the middle of no where and realize that you still have 30+ gallons left at half a tank.

I think aerotanks was getting around $800 or $900 for their tank. I talked with them about 2 months back. I'd install it, but I'm not sure how to valve the tanks. I'm running a #10 line from the tank. I wonder if I could get a selector valve off a semi maybe. They should be larger, manual would work, electric is better.
Anybody know?
