I can't find anything else on this, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Fuel gauge on my 99 short bed works fine until you get to around 1/8 of a tank. I ran out ONCE with it showing about an 1/8 of a tank maybe a little less. Now I always fill up at 1/4 tank. I've lived with this for a while and finally tired of it. Any suggestion on what you look for?

Common issue, the fuel pickup cracks and sucks air when you get below 1/4 tank. Look up the"Hutch mod". It will fix several design issues with the original fuel system that can cause you problems.
