Hi all, today I stopped to get fuel. My tank was about 3/4 full, but because I'm going on a little trip tomorrow and didn't want to stop on the way home to get fuel, I topped off the tank of my 02 one ton When I got back in the truck the gauge stayed at 3/4, but after driving about 4 miles it moved up to full. My truck has done this before. So, my question is, why does it do this and how do I stop it from doing this?
Thanks

It could be that the float in the tank is hung up and when you drive the fuel moves it around and frees it up.

I have a 2004 6.0 liter that has done this same thing for a couple of years....I don't think it's the float, because it comes up slowly over a matter of minutes... not like the float is stuck and suddenly pops up. Now that I see I am not alone in this quirck I would like to know what is causing this.....

George.
