My fuel gauge in my 2000 F-250 diesel quick working. What is the most common reason it stops working since the sending unit shouldn't be bad since the truck is still running? Should i put an aftermarket fuel gauge off like amazon and put it on it or what might be the best solution?

Every fuel gauge that failed for me was due to a failure in the sending unit in the tank. I'd try that first, unless someone has another thought.

@Greg687 thank you ill do that after i use a jumper wire to make sure it is the sending unit since another guy told me to try that out and if the gauge works its the sender if not its wiring

The fuel pump on this truck is on the rail correct and not in the tank?

all the fuses are good so it must be the sending card in the tank or a wire since i still need to check them.. Unless its the sending card in the tank..

What does the gauge say? It may be a wiring issue. An open circuit would cause an always full indication, so a broken wire would cause that.
If you can reach the wiring connector on top of the tank, you could check the sending unit knowing approximately how much fuel is in the tank. 15 ohms is empty and 160 ohms is full. Anything outside that range would indicate a problem. If you get good results there, look at the wiring between the tank and instrument panel.

Then you have a short somewhere. Unplug the fuel sender, and if it goes to full, then the sender is the issue.

So @klhansen i unplugged it and it went to full that means the sending unit is bad right? And do I have to replace? Will it hurt anything?

If you want to know how much fuel you have, I'd replace the sender, Either it's shorted out, stuck on the bottom of the tank (maybe the float came loose), or there's a short in the wiring between the connector and the sender.
I've had mine stick in full position (usually from a 4WD launch at the drag strip, back when I used to do that). Once I was able to beat on the tank with a rubber mallet to get it to drop, but other times had to drop the tank.

It won't affect anything if you leave it unplugged, you just won't know how much fuel is left. The low fuel light being on all the time would annoy me. ;)
