Just by chance yesterday I was checking my fuel filter and drained it. The heater wire seemed to be less rigid than normal right where the connector is attached to the wire. Anyway to make a long story short the wire was broken where it enters the 90* connector.

So to check yours disconnect the wire and gently pull/stretch the connector away from the wire. If it has a broken wire you will plainly see the outer covering thin down where the break is.

I intend to fix mine ASAP, they have a junk yard of vehicles at the shop and one will have the end I need.

Pete... I had this "problem" with the alt lite off my alternator connections at the alternator. Sometimes the lite on the dash would come on telling me the alternator wasn't charging. I checked everything for months and couldn't find the problem. Then one night in the dark I was under the hook with the motor running and "moved" the wires going to the alternator. I saw a blue arc coming from the connections. Checked into it and found the copper wire was broken BUT the plastic wire covering was still crimped holding it in place. Sometimes it make good contact, sometimes it didn't. Its so good to "find" these little problems..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Checked my connections on the filter and all look good. Thanks for the "heads up". I did have the alternator problem a couple years back. Seems that is a trouble spot for these rigs. They sell the little plug on the "Help" rack in the parts stores. I splice a new one on and no more problems.
