I've ran some diesel additive a while back hoping it would help with the rough start on cool mornings this has not helped. It takes a while for the truck to stop bucking once its in overdrive is there a Injector flush that can be done without taking the truck to a dealer.:frown2:

What you are experiencing is probably Stiction on the oil side of the injector. Flushing the fuel side won't help. The best solution I have found short of changing injectors is to change your oil to Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40 (or equivalent) and add Archoil 9100 oil additive. This will help. Also check your battery voltage and FICM voltage. That can cause a rough start too.

HI Powerdriver, I have to agree with Ford06. I made the switch after my bulletproof build. Rotella T6 5w40-archoil9100 oil additive and also archoil 6200 fuel additive. I have only owned this ride sense 06 of 15, and can say that at -3 degrees with no block plugged in, I forgot to plug it in, the engine only rolled over 5-6 seconds and started. Ran a little rough for less than 15 sec. and smoothed out. I live in the U.P. of Mich. Battery and FICM. test are a must. My truck is a 2005 6.0 SD 350 4x4. Also I get my archoil from powerstrokehelp.com. Bill has a program called Train-A-Vet. All his proceeds from archoil sales go to this org. I'am a Nam. vet so I think it's a good cause. You can buy it on amazon for about the same price. It really seems to work well. Keep it smoken & Good Luck. Fixen Sixes.

Cold Start

A couple things to look at here. Do you have a scan gauge II? How long does the truck take to build 580 PSI oil pressure at the HPOP? between 120000 and 150000 is when the dummy plugs and risers need new seals. Known issue. Hot shots stiction eliminator after that and a regular dosage of Hot Shots injector detergent Follow the instructions and in some cases it may take 2-3 tank fulls to cure the hesitation and get the injectors clean. Oil bypass filter will help. Regular oil changes and 6.4 banjo bolts.

How many miles are on the injectors? Because if you are at of past 150k the injectors are likely just worn out and no amount of special sauce is going to fix them. Injectors have a service life, plain and simple. Eventually they must be replaced to restore idle quality and prevent misfires.

As for oil, everyone should be running Rotella 5W40 T6. Running cheap oil in a 6.0 is false economy when you consider how important the oil is to not just bottom end longevity, but also HPO system longevity.

Personally I'm not a fan of all the additives. I've run all different kinds over the years and frankly I think they're all hokum. At one point the Diesel formulation lacked a lot of lubricity, and during that period it was a good idea to run some fuel system additive, the best of which I found was a quart of TWC-3 non synthetic two stroke oil in a full tank of fuel. But, fuel formulation is constantly changing, and they have the lubricity issue fully addressed at this point, so the additives are not really doing anything for you now.

On the oil side if you're going to try anything I would run the Archoil because of their money back guarantee. But I'm a firm believer in running T6 oil and changing it every 5k. Doing that I see no real need for an oil additive, and find it worth noting that every oil manufacturer specifically tells you not to use additives with their oil.
