I have an 03 f-250 crew cab with a 7.3 and was wondering how I can get 18-20 mpg. I just recently made a 378 mile round trip driving 70 mph with the cruise on and only got 13 mpg. It has 4 inch exhaust, cold air intake, and SCT switch chip. Any help is appreciated.

Post a signature in your user control pannel and include as much information about your truck as possible (i.e. tire size and gearing affect fuel milage). With my truck and mods....I see between 16-18mpg now driving 80mph. Driving on the Natchez Trace through MS, I get about 22mpg. Speed limit on that rd is 50..I drive 55-58mph.

The things that have made the biggest MPG difference in my truck have all been related to fixing boost leaks.

-IH Bellowed Up Pipes
-Diesel Site Engine Valley & Intercooler Boots.

Also, I have noticed that the further along in the service interval I go, the worse mileage I get, and my MPG is always highest with fresh oil, fuel filter, air filter.

My truck's sweet spot seems to be about 60 for 18-19mpg. At 70 it drops to 15.5-16 mpg. I do believe it needs up pipes as I have some soot stains on the left pipe, the boost tube boots do not appear to be leaking. At WOT the highest boost I have observed has been 17 psi. with 1100* EGT on a long uphill acceleration.

I've had two 7.3's, one 6.0. None of them ever got better than 17 mpg. Early 99, 2000 and a 2006. Heck the early 99 that I have now only averages 14.7 15.5 mpg. Maybe the 305/70r16 tires have an impact.

Use stock size tires, no lift, inflate the tires as much as possible. Drive slowly and carefully.

Call Jody @ DP Tuner..I have an 02 CC 4x4, 285 Tires, DIY airfilter, no muffler, 195k miles, and i get 21.5 @ 70mph on flat interstate in West TN. I use the 80hp economy mode everywhere I go...it will pay for itself.
