I did the blue spring and banjo bolt MOD a few months ago. I also installed a "Glow shift" fuel pressure gauge ( I used the extender hose I got on line to mount the electronic sender off the engine).
My fuel pressures have shown around 70 to 74 psi at idle 68 psi at 70 MPH, since the install.
I had to replace the fuel pump last June. As a result of the pump going bad while pulling my 5er I killed 1 injector and had it replaced.
Today it is in the 80s in Kansas City and while driving 4 different time today (temps outside from 70 to 85) I saw my fuel pressure drop to 0 !!!!
This was brief but I have never seen the pressure drop bellow 45 since I did the mod.
I am running a mild tow tune and have been for several months and even at WOT the pressure has held to around 50.
Today it would drop to 40 just accelerating up hill.
Question: What would be the best way to tell if the gauge went bad or the pump is bad? I should add that my "seat of the pants meter" has been telling me for a few days now that acceleration is a little sluggish.
Do I get a manual gauge and check it or trust Ford to. If I have to replace the fuel pump what would be a good replacement? I have stock injectors.

I think if your fuel pressure dropped to O you would be looking a 8 injectors and with your pressure all over the place i would look at a new pressure gauge.

Start by changing the fuel filter. If the problem persists then I would figure a way to verify the operation and accuracy of the gauge. Once you have all that done then move to the regulator, then the fuel pump.

Solved

I did all the wire checks, and air checks and bought a new Auto meter gauge. Gauge works great Not the problem though.
Took it to Midway Ford in K.C. and it was the fuel pump. Had that one put in last July and got it replaced under the 1yr 12,000 mile warranty.
I asked the tech what would cause it to fail so soon, he asked if did anything to the fuel regulator and I told him I put the "blue spring" kit in and he had never heard of it or that Ford made it or that it solved a problem Ford was aware of. Just sad. He thought that it failed because of what I had done to the truck. He said I have "supped it up" and he doesn't see many problems with the fuel pumps.
Just another tech at a "truck" shop that doesn't know much.:ford:
