Are you talking about the round oring that is between the stock fuel regulator and the housing or the Vibra-Lok oring that is on the fuel return line that is connected to the stock regulator? You need to use a Vibra-Lok fitting to replace the Vibra-Lok fitting and I'm not sure about the other oring. They sell a kit at Ford that has all the fuel filter housing orings but not sure of the price.

Can I use a regular black o-ring to replace the blue/green o-ring in the fuel regulator cap? Or, is it some special o-ring for diesel fuel?

Just re-use the blue/green O-ring.

Thanks guys.

First off, the price is $39.42 for the kit, at a local dealer here. I know because I broke one of the bolts that holds the FPR cap on. They will only sell the kit not just the bolts.

Second, I figured since I already have a set of o-rings on hand, so, since it's off I might as well use a new one if it will hold up to the diesel fuel. But since I've been told otherwise the original will go back in.

Regular (buna-N) o-rings will probably do fine in that application. They rate the same as viton o-rings in fuel oil according to one of my references. There's no sliding or other movement to wear it out, it's just a gasket application.
