I have a dual tank system on my F250. The front sensor seems to be broken because when I switch to the front take, the gauge indicates that it is empty. Any experiences with this and any idea on how to fix it without going to a mechanic? Thanks.
You didn't say what year truck you have, but generally the sending units in the tank use a variable resistance to run the gauge. You may have an issue (short or open) with the wiring to your front tank, the sending unit in the tank, or with the switch.
One of the IDI guys should be along to help with more info.
The fuel tank sender float is a very thin brass float, there prone to get a hole in them. They no longer float, hence indication is EMPTY. If you have some closed cell foam, make one out of that. Closed cell foam (kinda squishy) won't crush like open cell foam.
