I'm thinking about adding on some big oil, fuel system, intercooler, and a turbo to my current setup (stage 2's, intake & exhuast). I like the idea of the D66 for simplicity sakes and cost, but I'm also curious how well a Garrett 38r would work with my setup and how it compares performance wise to the D66? My truck is a daily driver and occasional worker, so it's gotta be streetable.

Thanks,
Justin

The GTP38R is a durable turbo. The best drop in on the market, IMO.

The D66 is rated for a max of Stage-2 injectors, and I know of plenty of guys running the 38R with Hybrids, so I'm guessing to moves a bit more air.
I plan on going with the 38R with my 230 hybrids in the next month or 2.

From what I understand, but haven't seen it for myself yet, the 38R needs to have the SD turbo pedestal and collector, up pipes and driver's side exhaust manifold and it will bolt right into an OBS. Then you need to address the intake side.

A little bit of firewall massaging as well, especially if you want to keep the waste gate actuator.

All worth it though at the end of the day.

$1800-ish. unless you can find a good used one.

Lots of guys prefer to go the route of the H2E as it's mount can accept tons of different turbos.
With the 38R, you're dropping a lot of money on a turbo that you're stuck with, no other turbo options will bolt in place.
For around $2500 you can buy the mounts and H2E and have lots of options.

I got a deal on my new 38R that I couldn't pass up, and I'm using my H2E mount on another project.
