and still don't have a real clear answer as to which switch to replace.
Intermittant 'no workey'. Driving along and normally upon picking up speed from a deceleration it'll go to idle, if I back off & then get back into it it'll come back to me. This just started so I read up last nite but aren't 100% which to go with. This morning I noticed that the ses light now comes on
also now, but then goes out when it catches.

Any help & thanks in advance.

Pull the codes. It will throw a TPS sensor code

What boathauler said.

You either have a problem with the Accelerator Position sensor (which is a potentiometer and may get a dead spot in it), or the IVS (which is just a microswitch). The scan tool will tell you which it is.

But in any case, you might just want to replace the whole deal. Ford sells the whole pedal assembly, but Dorman will sell just the AP sensor if that turns out to be your problem. https://www.dormanproducts.com/documents4rb/2007ss/Acc_Pedal_Pos_Sensors2.pdf

Ford doesn't have these, (the complete pedal) (IVS & APPS) national back order with no expected delivery date.

Anyone have a source for just the IVS?
Pull your AP assembly out and see if you can find an OEM part # on the IVS. They're just standard microswitches and a replacement could be found at someplace like Radio Shack or online (Digikey or Mouser).

Good idea, I didn't see any numbers and the switch is fused/glued to a metal bracket designed for the pedal bracket. For now gonna try just the replaceable Dorman APPS.

Howdy, I'm bringing this thread back to life. I've now replaced my gas pedal assembly like 7 times now. Napa has a lifetime warranty on my part.
Can the gas pedals be this big of a p.o.s or do I have something else causing the pedal
to go bad ???
I'm open to ideas.

Wow, 7 times. Your Napa guy must just go get an AP assembly when he sees you pull into the lot.

I doubt that they got it wrong 7 times. Have you checked the connectors that plug into the AP assembly? Has anyone spliced anything into the harness under there (home made idle controller?) Do you have size 15 feet and kick something loose on occaision?

The connectors may just be worn out by now. You can pull the red insert out the front and release the pins using a scribe to unlatch them (they pull out the back). You might try squeezing them gently with pliers to tighten them up and then reinstall (be sure to do them one at a time so you don't scramble the wires.)

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Karl, it's appreciated. I get really claustrophobic these days working on my truck if I'm up under the dash, almost vomited the last time I was under there swapping out the pedal......and that only takes five minutes.
No splices in that harness. Could I maybe just buy that part of the harness that the GP attaches to ? I do have size 13 feet but I normally just kick the e-brake when I climb in.....!

What's weird is that the new pedal will work perfectly for like a month or two and then slowly start acting up, then within another month or two I'm back at NAPA.

I don't think you can feasibly replace the harness under the dash that connnects to the AP assembly. That thing is like an octopus with it's tentacles everywhere. If you get claustrophobic under the dash, then you definitely don't want to try to replace that.

I know what you mean. When I'm working under the dash, I usually wind up laying on my back with my feet up over the backrest to be able to see/reach anything.

It's Kevin, BTW

Hope you can get it figured out.
