Well finally got my gauges (AutoMeter Trans. temp, pyro., and boost), installed today, only to get discourged. Fist off I went with the above brand because I like them and have them in my drag car. Well went to T in the boost gauge the supplied T was to small for the factory line, ran to the parts store (30 Min. later) and got what I needed. Moved on the the trans temp, well guess what the fitting that comes with this gauge is way to big for the service port opening, actually the temp. probe with the gauge will not even fit in the opening!!, have to get to a friends shop to weld in the bung for the pyro who know's what will go wrong with that one. Now to my questions you guys that have the Auto Meter gauges trans. temp to be specific how/where did you install the temp probe? I hope my thoughts are wrong, that being I have to drop the pan and drill it out/weld in the bung I have aghh! the part number on the gauge is ATM-4351.
On my boost gauge i'm thinking at idle the gauge reads 0 because the is no boost, but when driving after all the gear changes it will drop to almost 0, normal?

I have the Auto Meter Carbon Fiber series, I love them. Install the trans temp in the 1/8" NPT port right above the lip of the pan.

Drilled and tapped the EGT probe into the passenger side manifold.
(Where are you going to get the "Bung" welded to? Not the down pipe I hope... not the best place for the EGT gage)
It should be PRE turbo,, manifold or up-pipe.

Don't know what to say about the "T" fitting, never heard someone with the wrong size. Mine is drilled and tapped into the cold side of the "Y" off the CAC tube.

That port above the lip of the trans pan is to small for the fitting that came with my gauge, the temp. probe won't even fit in that hole. Did you specify some sort of fitting for yours?
The pyro bung as I call it i have the threaded one, thought about welding it in instead of threading the manifold.

I installed the autometer Z-gauges in my 02 and everything worked properly with the supplied parts. I think you must have ordered the wrong set or they sent you the wrong fittings. I would double check with your supplier. I changed the cheap, plastic t-fitting for a brass t-fitting and ran it off the map sensor hose. The tranny port sensor fit perfect. Make sure you check all the supplied fittings in your kit, my kit also came with differential sensors that I didnot use.. Drill the pyro hole preturbo on drivers side manifold.. good luck

That's because you ordered one of the cheaper mech. gauges instead of a elect.


Where did you install the pyro probe? It belongs pre-turbo. Either in the exhaust manifold like 99% of the rigs have it or in the up-pipes. If it is anywhere else it is not in the correct location....

What can I do with what I have?
Haven't installed the pyro yet, it will be pre turbo on the d/s manifold.

Sorry I kinda worded that bad.

I guess I should of said because you have the mechanical one. Sorry. You can send a drill and tap into the drivers manifold with it on the truck easily from below..

Wish I had of known the electrical gauge would have bolted right in. I will try and find a fitting that is the 1/8th" to go into the port with female threads to fit the fitting I have on my gauge.

I installed my autometer gauges today and yes the t for the map sensor line was to small, but a couple of clamps and works fine.
Everything else installed no prolems, Trans guage and pryro went in just as instructions read.

One of the reasons I went with the isspro kit from dieselmanor.... came with everything, even some extras and some candy to chew on during install! But isspro kit wasn't the cheapest option.

Hope you get your install figured out.

My pyro is installed in the driver's side up-pipe. Was a lot easier than drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold. Simply drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the up-pipe. Slip the special hose clamp around the up-pipe, make sure the pyro has the sealing washer on, tighten up. Took all of 5mins. Most of my time was spent routing the wires up to the gauges. I found it easiest running the trans temp wires through the rubber grommet under/behind the throttle pedal.

You'll probably have a hard time finding a fitting which works and also allows the sensor to get a significant flow of trans fluid on it. You may be better off returning that gauge or selling it and getting an electric one.

I bought all the pieces from Gosracing. The gauges are diPricol.

This is where I installed the Turbo Boost. I think mine is the same as JimTJr.

Tranny was the plug hole just at the electrical of the tranny.

I drilled/tapped the hole in the exhaust per instructions pre-turbo from DieselManor.com. They were perfect.
