So I'm looking at getting an electronic fuel pressure gauge for my truck. The two mounts I was looking at was the single column mount. Does this allow you to still access your 4way flasher switch? The other style I was looking at was a dual guage cluster bezel (mounts by your regular spedo/tach/etc). I already have a triple pillar gauge set that has trans temp/pyro/boost. Is there another gauge that I should get or just stick with the single? I would get a quad pillar mount but I have switches stuff mounted where that has the 4th gauge placed.

Just a thought, you could do like I did..I have 5 gauges on my pillar. I bought gauge cups and bolted them onto the original 3 pod..Doesn't get in my way of viewing traffic..

I like that idea. Never thought of that. My pillar cluster already has holes drilled in it for switches and stuff so its not like I'm going to make it lose value by knocking a couple more in it. What gauges do you have?

Maxtrax - search for the terms "Roush fuel pressure" on e-bay. That's the one I got - it works great and looks great. I got the oil temp gauge as well just to try to fill up the three gauge pod I put in. Auto Meter 15018 triple under dash gauge pod.

I have the Autometer C2 series..the back light is blue led (matches the stripes on the body).

Well I have the Isspro EV2 gauges, so I'd like to keep all my gauges the same. To me its worth the extra $40

I would stay with the same style too if I was to add any more.

I recently installed an Autometer quad pillar pod with boost, fuel press., pyro., and trans temp with an led GPR indicator. Looks great.

I like the idea of just adding the cups onto my existing pillar just for the simple fact that if I add one its pretty easy to install and if I were to ever take one out then I would just remove the cup. This would mean that all visible spots would be full.

Wasn't very clear in my questions earlier about which gauges you have... I mean what does the fifth gauge do (not what brand)?

No problemo
I have trans temp, EGT and boost in the original pillar pods and coolant temp and oil pressure in the cups. and all my factory gauges still work too. It is "enlightening" to watch the coolant gauge move while the dash gauge doesn't.

How important is the oil pressure gauge. Is there any real problem with that on the 7.3?

There isn't any problems that I am aware of..When I was getting ready for my cross country trip, I decided that I wanted as much "real" information as possible. Like the coolant gauge it's interesting to watch the oil pressure move up when you come off idle and once again the dash gauge doesn't even twitch.. Don't know about the working oil pressures of the PSD off hand, but the IDI fully warmed up will run 12-14 PSI @ idle and jump to 35-40 when you go.

I figured if I was toolin down the road and my oil pressure started to fall, I could find out why BEFORE the whole trip got ruined.

Good point. I'm not doing that much long range driving so I'm not too worried about that. I think I am going to go with the gauge cups like you did and if I need to I can add a more expensive setup if I want to add more gauges in the future.

Somebody recommended a "scangauge" for me to monitor different stuff. Anyone heard of this? From what I can tell it won't tell me much more than my other gauges already do so I'm not sure its worth me getting.

The Scangauge plugs into the OBD II port and displays what the PCM is reading. Don't quote me on this but If I remember right the PCM in some PSD's don't "monitor" the coolant temp, so an aftermarket gauge would be needed. IDI's are OBD I.

I don't puill my trailer too far these days with fuel prices like they are, but It sure is nice to know what's going on under the hood

chuckster is exactly right. The 6.0 is the first engine that you can get accurate coolant data from the PCM. I actually programmed it in to my scangauge at the request of another poster. I watched it going into church this morning. The value climbed quickly even the first mile from the house. By the second mile, it surpassed 212° - imaginary smoke started coming from under the hood. By mile 3 it was up to 250° it then climbed to 257° at which time imaginary flames were coming out of the grille. Then it plunged to 137° and started over. The cooling fan must have kicked in. The point is - it no worky on a 7.3 ...

Ok. The whole idea seemed a little sketchy to me too. I'm going to just order the fuel pressure gauge and get a gauge cup for it. That seems like the most economical option.

Anyone suggest the AutoEnginuity scanner if my truck seems to be running fine? I had some issues a while back that seem to have fixed themselves but I'm thinking that my fuel pressure is low (since then I've done things like the hutch mod, harpoon mod and a baldwin pre-pump filter) trying to improve things. Just curious if my injectors might me getting bad due to low fuel pressure. Figured if I'm making an order for a gauge I might just get it now so I have it handy.

If you can fit it in your budget then I say yeah get it. You might not need it today, but it will save you big $$ the first time you do have a problem and have to figure it out. You will need the software/OBD II cable and the FORD expansion pack.

Yes I just got a decent scholarship that put my funds ahead a bit for the next year. I see it as being a bit of money but the savings potential and resale potential make it worth it to me. Do people ever sell them used? Would it be a good idea to look for a used one?
