Does my truck have a GEM? I was told both yes and no by two different mechanics. Could someone please clarify this for me. Thank You /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

In either 01 or 02, Ford got rid of the GEM.

And Ford_Doctor's reply HERE

Seems like it's 3 to 1 against you having a GEM.

It was "somewhere" around 02/03 that the GEM disappeared and it's functions were absorbed into the instrument cluster and other modules... I can never recall and prefer to look.

Easiest way to tell if your truck has a GEM is to look at the fuse box under the dash.... If this fuse box is taller than it is wide, there will be a GEM attached to the back. If it is wider than it is tall, it wont.

Thank You it is wider than taller. I have talked to to many local people about this truck and have just been more confused than helped by the mechanics here. I am really glad that this site and all of the people here exist. I am going to check my PCM for the short and if that is not it I am going to have to look for a good Ford electrical mechanic.
