I started to run Premium in my '99 V-10 even before Texas got 10% Ethanol, it would ping even with Midgrade. It's so much nicer to punch the '87' button when I fill up the '09 now, and, yes, it is such a better motor... :icon_wink:
I used to haul fuel for a living here in the Dallas area, definitely switch your fuel filter every 12-15k miles. There is sooooo much trash in the fuel these days it's unbelievable. It's not necessarily the delivery trucks but the storage tanks at the stores. Most stores don't change their filters on schedule (costs too much) or maintain their tanks until the water level gets too high and they have to vac the bottom off.
It doesn't hurt to frequent a newer station, either. Newer tanks = cleaner tanks.
