I just changed my glowplugs a few months ago, before winter, and they've been working fine. I brought my truck to the garage because it's been running like crap, and it needed rear end work. They did a compression test on the engine for me, say they pulled the glow plugs, but now they're only cycling for 5 sec before I start and it's smoking alot more when it's cold. Before they got it it was closer to 20. The relay is still kicking in...what do you guys think happened? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I installed the stock motorcraft glow plugs. They never said anything about changing the glow plugs, nor does it say anything on the receipt about them doing.

As far as the engine, they said I need a new IP and injectors, so I ordered a tuned one from Ken and I have brand new stanadyne injectors to install.
I tend to believe them because the truck wasn't getting fuel as a result of the greasecar valve failing and I was troubleshooting different possibilities. Cranking the engine to build fuel pressure the fuel pump was running dry, and ever since fixing it it's been smoking and sputtering on startup. Always starts, but smokes like crazy (white/blue tint). Also, from looking at the pump and all my receipts, I tend to believe that this is the stock pump, and at 189k I think it is about time to service the fuel system, right? Gives me an excuse to get a better one.

How can you get a better fuel system?
No issues for over 186K, what could be better?

Check to be sure ALL the GP connections are tight.
