Love the rear heater in the winter too! Only way some of us can afford a PSD, have had 2 '83 6.9s and swore I'd never get another. One even had an ATS turbo. Wanted a PSD since test driving one in '95 and finally was able to afford one 2.5 years ago. Got one built 5/95 with 50,000 miles, very good interior, no leaks, body in great shape and the seat springs weren't hashed for $8,500. Didn't even try to dicker on price. I know it has been idled ALOT and probably used hard BUT I've put 25,000 miles on it, have had to replace 5 glowplugs, one glowplug relay, one valve gasket/harness, 2 CPS, and rebuild the tranny (which I knew was weak when I bought it.) So for about $11,000 I still consider it a good deal. Even if the thing is DOA right now with I hope a bad IPR I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
I agree with Jim, we don't see many posts by Alaskan's with problems and considering the winter weather, the wonderful daily drive many have and the number of PSD around most must be doing well, mine sure has until now, but I expect it to be up and running soon thanks to help from others on here (PSD_Alaska & Alaskan.)
