Ok..I no longer own my truck in my signature. I sold it to a good friend. So far he has put a bts tranny and one of their 6 position chips along with 5inch straight pipe. He called me today and wants to go sled pulling in a month. What other mods should we do to gain more h.p. They only thing is we use this truck to pull our backhoe around sometimes at work so we don't want to make it to wild. I was thinking aftermarket hpop, ats housing, lift pump and shim the regualtor. What do you guys think would work best for both uses. Thanks!

If it were my 99.5 I'd throw on a set of injectors and be laying down 500 horse. Probably need a fuel system too.

On edit: obviously you would need a turbo to burn the fuel. So Injectors + Turbo + Fuel system.

500 horse for under $5000, not too bad.

It says you need the injectors, fuel system, and turbo.

If you couldn't think of anything better to say than that you were better off not responding. I like a guy who likes to have the last word though, kinda spunky /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm not one to start a flame, but at least our trucks don't have one of the highest Technical Service Bulletin of every vehicle ever produced. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Oooh...ouch. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif I'll stick to my 7.3 over a 6.0 because of all the issues they're still having. And to think...I almost traded my 7.3 for a 6.0 the first time I got beat. Glad I didn't. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Greg, there is more there than meets the eye, all depends on the dyno operator, if he put the weight of the truck in real low, thats gonna make a huge difference on the hp reading.

I don't recall anyone that has nailed 500 ponies with injectors, turbo, fuel system and a chip. If it where that easy, don't you think there would be like oh say, a couple of thousand 500 hp 7.3's running around this country right now?

Gary is right, it takes a hellavu alot more than that to make 500 hp.

Take alook at super's webshots, you'll think kinda spunky!

Well I didn't want to start a arguement with this post just needed a little advice as to what mods for the situation I descrbed would work best. If we leave the stock injectors in and ad a aftermarket hpop and better fuel system would that be the best bang for the buck?

For everyday working truck, then yes, you will probably like that setup better, because you will have a broad power band and much less smoke. Truck will drive real nice with it setup like that.

What is your budget?

If you want something quick, slap a small shot of NOS on there. Works good for sled pulling depending on the rules. Use the jet that comes with the NOS kit (.055) and get little kick. 500.00

With the BB, MM's, fuel system, hot chip, AFE II, built trans, I did 439 on a Mustang load dyno, 5k lb. load.

Well, I wouldn't start a flame war if I was you either, especially since you spent quit a bit of cash on your rig to try and keep up with the little 6.0! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

BTW where are you getting your info on the TSB's? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Greg,

It took a little more than just the injectors:

For what he says he wants to do with the truck, then what he has thought of will be an awesome everyday backhoe pulling rig, with an occasional foray to the sledpulling track.

Big oil and a BB turbo would keep it cooler and would result in a better all around truck. Look in the For Sale section for a BB turbo.

Our budjet at this time is $2000. Could be more but just want to see what we could get for that since we spent $4500 with bts 3 weeks ago.
