Recently I noticed that the right half of my dashboard is not working. (See picture). The Tachometer, Trans Temp, and Oil Temp gauges are not working and the Check Gage and CEL are constantly on. The Speedometer, Oil Pressure and Fuel gauges are all working fine. The truck starts and runs like normal, but the glowplug light stays on longer than normal. I have a ScanGaugeII that is plugged into the ODBII port and still receives readings for the tach., trans temp and oil temp. I have checked all the fuses under the dash, have disconnected the batteries and checked for codes. So far, nothing. When I disconnected the batteries, all of the gauges cycled when I reconnected the batteries and turned the key to the "on" position, so I know they are not physically broken. I have noticed that in addition to the right half of the dash, my cruise control is no longer working. Everything else is working fine.

Any ideas as to why the dash would stop working, but the ScanGaugeII is still able to read the gauges? I thought it might be a dying PCM, but that wouldn't explain why it is sending signals to the ODBII port and not the dash. Thanks for your help in advance.

Sounds like just a bad cluster, have you tried messing with the connectors on the top of the dash, sometimes wiggling them can fix it. Or try disconnecting and reconnecting the one on the top right.

Its a quick, 5 minute process to pop the dash off enough to access the connectors, when mine was on the way out, I bought myself about 3 more months by zip-tie ing the right side connector. If it does end up being a bad cluster, here is where I bought my new one from:

Mine started just with the fuel gauge not working, progressed to the left side of the cluster not working. I than ziptied the connector I mentioned, which helped for several weeks. Than I would sporadically lose my power windows, radio, and dome light (the power for all of these go through the cluster).

Did you ever fix your right side instrument cluster problem? I have the same thing on a 2003 F250 SuperDuty. The instrument cluster was not the problem, as a working one was installed as a test. It showed the same symptons in my truck but worked perfectly in my buddies truck.

Thanks for a reply.

Finally found the problem with the right side of my insturment cluster not working. Turned out the PCM needed to be replaced and reprogrammed. The right side in the 2003 F250 6.0 comes from a serial connection to the PCM that goes to a microprocessor in the instrument cluster. The right side of the instrument cluster readings come from this microprocessor. If there is no signal coming from the PCM, the right side is dead. ---- Anyway this was my problem.

Good find! How, if I may be so bold to ask, did you come to this diagnosis?

And THANK YOU for letting us all know how you resolved your concern! (makes these forums better ;) )

Unfortunely it wasn't me figuring this out. I ended up taking the truck to 2 different repair shops. The first shop just sent the cluster out to be repaired and it did the same thing when they got it back. They basically said "Sorry but we dont have the diagnostic tools to figure this out." The second shop found found the serial signal was not coming from the PCM. So they replaced the PCM and got the cluster working.
