Truck has new f.f. with in the last week.
For the last few weeks in cold weather or cold starts the truck will crank and crank and crank and wont start. Then where it starts in runs for a sec or two and then dies. I do that a few times then the truck will start and run like norm.. but will smoke "white" at idle and a lot under power....after a few min a driving and the truck gets warmer no more smoke.

Y is the truck dieing like this?
Y goes it seen like there is no fuel and it just crank and crank?

Thanks for the help.......

Is the check engine light ever on?

Any latent codes?

Hook it up to a scanner, see what it tells you, and go from there.

Is the truck completely stock? Tuned? Gauges? Modifications?

Does condition exist at every startup, or just when hot, or just when cold?

Does it turn over slowly, or normal speed?

There is a lot of information being left out of the equation so far. Provide as many details as possible.

this could more than likely be a glow plug problem. you need to see if the glow plug solenoid is coming on. should only come on at temps below ~40

more than likely a glow plug problem. need to see if the glow plugs are coming on if not probably a bad glow plug solenoid. if it was the egr cooler you would have coolant consumption and white smoke

it has/had ZERO to do with the glow plugs..... if you read the firsat page of posts you would see that there was white smoke caused from a leaking EGR cooler. If "he" has the same prob as I did then its most likely the same fix....

o really.....you sure about that? if the glow plugs were not working you would have hard start when cold and white smoke due to the fact that the temperatures in the cylinders would not be hot enough to properly burn the fuel. im not saying for sure it is the glow plugs but they symptoms go hand in hand with the glow plugs
