Just bought this 2003 7.3 4x4 to fix up.
Ran find on the way home, next day very hard to start. would take maybe 4 key turns before it would stay running (very ruff-clanking noise- sounding till warm)
Decided to plug in heater, seems to crank right off and smooth. The solenoid looks new.
Anything I need to check??

Definitely start with the GPR as its the easiest to check. If that is working, then ohm your glow plugs. Kevin has a how to in his signature:
