I had engine light come on a few weeks ago, used friends scanner to find out codes. I inadvertently cleared engine light, code P207F came up, had 5 possibilitys the one I believe was relavent had to do with particulant filter. 3 weeks after this, went to start truck and it is starting hard, takes a few cranks like baterries are dead (not normal). called dealer told him the story, bring in asap which I did. After 2 days was told they could not follow up on code because it was not active, because i had cleared it. changed out batteries no help. truck has 132,000 miles I know exhuast filer is an issue as i do a ton of short trips with truck. 2 questions
1 Is the dealer correct, have to wait for light to come back on before they can figure it out.
2 Has anyone experienced this problem.
Thanks for any input

First question is yes.
Second question you need to get this truck on the highway and drive the snot out of it. With these emission systems on these new trucks you need to get them hot and you need to complete the regen. My truck takes about 15 miles to get to temp. My transmission needs about 30 miles. Thesed diesels are for work and towing. Trips to the store are hard on diesels. I try to avoid short trips to the store and usually take my car. But with a week of short trips get her out on the highway and go 80. You need to get the truck to clean the exhaust.

Thanks for the reply, I do hit it hard when I know its in regen, but being an XL it only flashes for 3 seconds. I usually know by the smell. I wish there was a button to put it in Regen when I'm on the hiway. Can i just idle up in park or should it be driven? Thanks again

I had that code a couple of years ago. Took the dealer a few tries to fix it, but they finally got it. It's a process to figure out what is causing it. On my truck, the line from the filler to the def tank had a hole in it that allowed water in so that was the first thing to replace. However, that didn't fix it. Ended up replacing the injector nozzle and one or two NOX sensors and reprogrammed the computer. Works like a charm now. Turned on the DPF percentage screen with FORSCAN and it will go to 100% and then down to 0%. Truck has 80k miles.

My 15 does the same when it does a regen. You can trun on a manual regen with forscan but it makes the truck run at a real high rpm. It sometimes takes about 20 minutes to do a complete cleaning. There is no regeh button lol. ya I would like one as well so my truck doesn't start to clean just as I am rolling into somewhere.

Did your truck ever not start? I am worried about getting stranded towing my 16' work trailer from job to job.
Thank you for the info.

No, it always started. I got the "speed limited to 50mph in xx miles." or something like that. I got it to the dealer just before it went into limp mode.

I have a 2013 F-350 Diesel...the damn check engine light came on, I couldn't figure out what it was, tried my code reader...p.o.s. It went off after a while, then on again. My info readings said less than 1/2 Def....so I filled up the Def Tank....the light stayed on, and still said less that 1/2 Def in tank...so I waited drove it and the light finally went off...has not come on since. Just a little info out there of what I found with mine.

you might consider getting this code scanner, it handles Ford Diesels very well.

I ordered one this past week. be sure to check the Coupons, I saved $49.00 using the code mentioned in the listing. that is good until 3/24

it is kind of neat, it has a Handle on the back, that allows you to place it on top of the Steering Wheel.
