After I replaced fuel filters last time truck began to start hard when hot. Didn't think it was related to fuel filters until I just replaced them and the fuel filter on the frame rail was black on the bottom half and completely clean on the upper half. After I replaced the filter the truck started like it was brand new. 2,000 miles into new filters it is starting hard again when hot. Just wondering if anybody else has had this or just coincidence that new filters changed things.
Batteries are good, also concerned it could be HPOP seals.
Also the truck starts fine when parked on a hill (front of the truck up)? Anything

What kind of filters are you using? Really odd things can happen with improper fitting filters. Should be using Ford, Motorcraft, Raycor, and Fram (I think).

Like you, I would lean towards a HPO issue but eliminating the filters as a source is an easy step. A guy on another forum chased all kinds of ghosts on a no-start condition and it turned out to be an oil filter issue IIRC.

ever find out what it was? mine starts fine after setting for an hour but if i shut it off to run into the store it does not want to start back up, now i'll be changing out the starter as it has significant wear due to this. I also do not shut it off untill i know i'll be inside for at least an hour.
