I periodically drain my HCFM Fuel filter. Tonight, I had an unusual amount of diesel fuel drain out. What is the amount of fuel that I should be getting. Normally, I get about 1/4 gallon. Tonight, I got close to 4 gallons before I put the plug back in. Any ideas?

take off fuel cap when you do this. hotter weather and some pressure in tank can push out a lot of fuel. IF you drain HFCM all yiu are doing is allowing any accumulated water to escape. If there is no water in few ounces then put in the plug and tighten, you are done.
The HFCM is a low turbulence sediment bowl of sorts, similar to old vehicles that had glass fuel sediment bowls you could see water in. If anything is there it will be in the bottom and no extensive loss of fuel needs to be done to get that out.
