Better check your info before you post about our product. We had the studs specially made to our specs by a company other than ARP. ARP's tensile strength wasn't enough for what we wanted so we had them made stronger than the ARP's. When we put on our Aurora 5000 the other bolts may not hold up.

No no no.

Installing head studs is a major pain in the ass. You either have to lift the cab completely off the motor, or pull the motor. Yeah, you heard me right. A royal pain in the petuties.

$2000 or so for the full treatment (that is the Ford price that I heard a couple of guys say already). You might be able to do better at a private diesel garage...or not. Plus your studs. I got my ARP's for $400 delivered. Also, plan on missing your truck for 3-5 days. It is a big deal.

Last, make sure whoever does know what the hell they are doing. This isn't just strapping a tuner on and picking a program. This is the real deal. Head studs have a special install procedure and special lubricants. You don't want to do it twice. Pay a little more to get it done by a pro.

i do have my ARP's installed. got them almost a month ago now, it took 10 buisness day's total down time on my truck.

motor torn down, head's sent out to be checked for cracks, warpage, and have them surfaced to properly match the gasket material. i had injector's done since there was no labor charge while the engine was open, and the glow plug's replaced also, since it was open.

my total bill was $4500+ and after towing with it a few times, and just daily driving it, it was worth every dime...

now if Innovative would send me my cord that's 2 weeks late now, it'd be alot funner /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

My head gaskets were replaced on my 05. The dealer speng $2500 or so. It was under warranty. It 10-12 hours or so just to get them out if I read my bill correctly. They had it a week.

Picking up my '06 from the dealer tomorrow...

Is this an issue I need to pay attention to?

Unnerves me a little to see a $4500 mod, not sure what it is all about, but seems failry critical in that it involves the engine heads?

Do I need this or is this a performance thing for mods?

Sorry, new to diesel PSDs...

Thanks,

Chip

Leave the engine stock for the first 100 K miles and then play.

Some will say that there is a factory defect in that you cannot put a module on the truck and increase the power substantially without causing an imbalance in the performance of other components such as EGR cooling system etc. such that the coolant pukes out of the degas reservoir. Of course the number of pukers that have been left stock is pretty small. Not that there are not any, but it is a small number.
