Hello I am new to this forum and to Ford trucks but not new to running on veggie. My question is where do I add the Heat Exchanger in line?I know I want to keep it as close to the IP. I have the Hanes diesel manual and I have looked on line for fuel line diagrams with no luck. Just a simple line drawing showing the lift pump and HP pump tank and switching valve will help me out. I have a 95 F350 7.3 powerstroke and plan on using the front tank for Veggie and the rear tank for Dieseljust adding the heat exchanger and making it a simple system.I also have a 50gal aux tank that I plan on adding after I get the truck up and running on WVO.Anyone else doing this with their truck? Thanks for the help

Sounds good, where did you cut into the fuel lines to put the extra 6' on? Before the lift pump or after? Thanks anyone else?

take off the fuel line before it goes on to the filter, add the 6 foot, wrap around the coolant line that runs close to your filter, and reattach to the fuel filter housing.

Did the same thing with our Mercedes 240D and 300SD but with them we wrapped it around the oil filter

Nope no idea, only thing I know is you can not touch the fuel filter for more than a few seconds because its so warm. When i get some extra cash i'm gonna be getting a temp gauge for coolant and one for fuel.

I wait until the stock coolant gauge has moved about 1/16 of an inch (usually after the first good hill) then i switch it over. By that point the coolant lines are warm.

I am.

Simple system? Just a heat exchanger? Do you really think you'll reach >160*F oil in winter? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I don't.

hheynow. I have been running WVO in my Mercedes since 2004 and I have a 26 Flat plate H/E that I know will transfer the heat also I live in the south where it only gets down below 30* 3-4 days a year so no need for a heated tank . What I an looking for is someone to show me where to splice into the fuel system to add the H/E. Please send pictures of your system or a line drawing will work so that I can understand the fuel routing. I see 2 fuel lines going into the lift pump and 2 fuel lines going into the filter. Is one the return? left side or right. Sorry for all the questions. The Haynes Manual is lacking details.. Thanks

Your truck has a regulated return fuel system, so you are returning warmed fuel to the tank, thats a plus. As for fuel line routing, they exit the tanks in rubber (feed and return) on the top, go to the drivers side frame, through a selector switch to steel then to behind the drivers side front tire and then into a flexible line to the blick under the PS pump then back to steel to the valley.
Is that kind of what you are looking for?

Thanks Rick. That is almost what I need. The thing I am trying to understand is where is the best place to splice into the fuel system for the Heat Exchanger. It is very tight in the vally and short fuel lines in between the lift pump and the fuel filter so not much room for adding fittings to connect more fuel line.I know where the fuel selector valve is and where the 2 metal lines connect to the lift pump, so what I need to know is what line is what and where do I splice into the system. I will try to attach a simple diagram like what I am looking for. Thank you for your help. Thomas
