During warm weather when the engine is up to full operating temperature, I seem to get some residual heat into the cab from the heater core. (It is most prevalent on the passenger side) Obviously, the A/C while working fine, has to overcome this additional heat. Here is what I need to know........
1. Is there any downside to installing in-line heater hose valves under the hood?
2. Could my problem be in a heat vent controller instead?
3. Am I just a wuss and cant take the heat and it is considered normal for these trucks?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The only downside I see is having to turn them on and off from under the hood. Semis have shutoff valves on the engine for the heater cores (one cab and sleeper) in most cases.

There is a modification to use a heater core shutoff valve from a Ford Ranger and hook it into the vacuum control system that will do it for you. If I get a chance at home I will post either the instructions or a link.

Look under F350, then under the "Mods" heading (about 1/4 of the way down) for "Heater Core Bypass Mod Pics".

No, the heater core bypass is not needed for the engine, it has its own bypass internally. A single shutoff in the line from the cylinder head should work fine.

Thanks for the great tips and link. I think I'm going to go with a single valve in the inlet side. I don't mind opening the hood seasonaly. Besides, my neigbor is a plumber and has some great brass 1/4 turn valves for free.
Birken...great to see you here again.

The thing I see more heat input into the cab in summer from is any time You stop the truck, engine running or not the hot soak the engine goes thru heats up the floor boards something terrible. Once You start moving again they cool right off but even with the great working A/C in My truck it takes a bit.
