I was changing my fluid today and I have found that my magnet looks like a donut and there are a few slivers in here that about 1/2-3/4 inch long
I would like to know what transmission I should go with if I upgrade or should I rebuild it. Not sure if it’s ever been done or if it has a shiftkit or even a good converter I believe it’s stock.

I would just like to know if I should rebuild or buy a new transmission. And if I’m buying which is the best for putting down some power when I tow and When I get Into the throttle with no lid. I do have the TS6 position tuner

The magnet is there to trap that stuff. How long since previous transmission service? This may not be that threatening at all.

I don’t think it’s been changed for a good long while, I’ve put 10k on it after I got it. I bought the truck a couple of months ago and have been hauling myfifth wheel camper up and down the mountains here in nc it shutters real bad in first with a load and not so bad w/o and I’ve been going on 2k mile trips traveling back and forth and I decided to change it today because it started to smell burnt and when I drained the fluid it looked like motor oil and there were a few big chunks on the magnet once I started to clean it off.

The Kid I bought the truck from never did any maintenance to the truck. I’ve basically been emptying out my wallet making it right. And I’m just thinking it cost the same to rebuild as it does buy a new one but if I was to buy a new trans what should I go with.

Either way, rebuild or outright replace, now is the time to beef it up if you are planning on performance upgrades. I had a friend who owned a transmission shop go through mine and added addtional clutch plates and etc. I towed a race car trailer with mine for several years. I have chip, bigger injectors etc. and am happy with the transmission.

Awesome thanks man I’ll look more into it
Dieselsite Transmission Cooler for 7.3L and 6.0L Legendary E4OD Heavy Duty Diesel Transmission Get some references on these -- look good. 80+ mph hour towing in 100* heat doing away with the cooler in the radiator and using an external cooler the transmission never ran hot at all per gauge on driver's pillar. They advise that if you get a chip do NOT let the programmer firm up your shifts as they will already be firm. This is good advice. I recently bought a new set of tunes and had to have them rewritten as they were stress-testing my u-joints!
