Hi,
Here's the story: 2 weeks ago I put in a set of Baby Swamp injectors.
The truck seemed to be running great so my wife and I headed out for our vacation. We towed our 5er about 300 miles and then another 250 without the trailer while on the trip. Still no problems other then a blowout on the Pennsy Pike. Well today comes along and we begin our return trip. We make it about 200 miles with the trailer and suddenly the Check engine light comes on. By the time I get over to the shoulder the truck is running very rough and within 5 seconds it shuts off completely. I get out to look and see a huge puddle of oil under the bell housing. What do you guys think happened, rear main or injector o-ring, or something else. I am going to pressure wash in the morning and then search for the leak so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

before you pressure wash it you have to inspect the engine from top to bottom and try to find where the leak originated if you wash it first it may be inpossible to find the source without running it first which seems to be a problem now and it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif would be ill advised to do so. if it is a rear main it is pretty easy to fix if you have done it before just time

I am not presently running a chip. My chip came in the mail while I was on the truck and I was going to put it in this week. EGT'S never got above 1200. How can I tell if I cracked the turbo housing and how would I do a search to find the one from a couple weeks ago? Thanks!!

It could also be the seal or bearing also, either way it sounds like turbo rebuild time
Any endplay? How many miles on it?

we had a detroit 8v92 kind of do the same thing a month ago it blew the oil seal in the turbo and filled the exhaust full of oil funny thing is after I fixed it and I went home day shift fired it up and blew more than a gallon of oil 20 feet in the air and covered all of their povs in oil and sludge ha maybe they should not of pi**ed me off before I had the chance to tell them to pull the pipes and drain the oil first.

Put oil back in it and start it and look for the leak. If its dripping that much from the bellhousing then its gonna be noticable. It wont be the rear main, will be up in the valley somewhere.

Oil in the exhaust is never a good thing but most likely the turbo. First make sure the crank case ventilator on the driver side valve cover is not blocked, this will push oil out the turbo. Next like others said pull the boot and check for play, that doesnt always indcate a bad turbo though, if the paly feels good start the truck and make sure the wheel spins, I have seen the shaft break in two and the exhuast wheel be sideways in the housing but the compressor wheel look and feel fine.

Hope ya get it figured out. Bean
