Getting ready to order a DPF-r and race pipe. Dealer I am ordering it from says i should do the block off plates at least as well, I am not so sure. I have heard that the dpf-r turns the egr off in the closed position and that is all that is needed however the dealer i am buying from says it can come open from back pressure and stay open causing issues and white smoke. I have not seen this in any reviews. Also I heard that if you install the plates you get more boost, which i do not want as i just want the stock truck without the DPF. Please advise as I hope to order this soon so I can install over my time off at Christmas.

You can leave all that stuff on and just disable the EGR valve through the tune, however, I would want to remove the coolers and valve just so there is less to go wrong in the future.

Never heard of an EGR valve being forced open by back pressure. Maybe he's hittin' the crack pipe too hard.

Deleted my 6.4 and left the EGR on. After a few years, the EGR cooler failed and dumped water into my intake locking up my engine. Install the block plates and you won't have to worry about it. Plates are cheap and easy to install. I think it only took me an hour or so to do it. Biggest problem was removing the fender well.

I have had a MM on 2 different 450s--no problems. Just be aware that H&S is long gone and no support except if your dealer is in the know.

Just finished my delete, I hope yours goes better. i just did the dpf-r and delete pipe from dales diesel superstore as all i wanted was to delete and stop the regens and the truck runs just as it did prior without regens and a ever so slightly louder exhaust note. Overall I am happy so far but i will tell you my dpf pipe was very difficult to remove and the new one was very difficult to install because it was rusty and corroded, which was surprising as mine lives inside and doesnt get driven in salt very much. had a terrible time pressing the new pipe into the pipe for the muffler.

I put an MBRB straight pipe in mine, and a DPF-R+ tuner. Getting the pipes apart was a major pain. I have had to reinstall the original Cat and DPF once (for an emissions check), so I have done this a few times. What I found to be very helpful is a set of large ratcheting straps. Get everything lined up with the strap in place, then use the ratchet mechanism to force things into place or apart. A come-along might work too. Even with the large ratchet straps, I had to use a lot of penetrating oil and a large hammer to get the pipes apart the first time.
