I just got off the expressway on way home tonite from work, and as I applied the brakes I noticed the brake light came on and I had no brakes!! The pedal is not mushy, but rather very hard. had to shift down and put both feets on the brake pedal to get it to stop!!
I finally limped it home, checked the fluid, it full to top, checked fuses in dash and under hood, pulled and reset the two connector cables by the brake fluid thing.
Does anybody have any idea??? the pedal is very hard to push, and the truck doesnt want to stop!!
Monday is holiday, and I have to work tues, so would be nice to be able to fix this by myself.
Thanks all!

Your vacuum pump is gone. Most good auto parts stores should have one.
When pulling yours off, one bolt will not come out until the pulley is taken off. If you take your old pump in, the place you buy the new one will usually change the pulley over for you. MAKE SURE that bolt is in before the pulley is put back on.

Most any of the national chain parts stores should have the pump in stock. AutoZone here in Cincinnati has a program where you "buy" the puller, use it and return it for a refund. The puller will remove the pulley from the old pump and install it on the new pump. When you remove the old pump there will be one mounting bolt you cannot get out of the mounting ear with the pulley in place. Be sure that bolt is in place on the new pump before you install the pulley on it or you will be removing and installing the pulley again.

Pump will be on drivers side, just follow the serpentine belt. BTW now would be a good time to replace that belt since you are going to have it off.

Thank you all for your help!

Your advice was right on the money!
A friend helped me change the pump out today. O'reilly had it, about 120 bucks. I did not have any tool for bending down the belt tension pulley release thinger, so that was a little challenging! but hey, got it in, and all works great!!
now when I go back to get my core money, I am going to buy a CPS!! and keep it with the truck!
Thanks again you all!
