While driving to work this morning I heard an unusual noise coming form the engine. I popped the hood once I got to work and saw fuel everywhere. It is slowly leaking from the drain at the back of the fuel filter housing. I opened and closed the valve a few times but no luck. Can this valve be replaced separatley? Anybody had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Yes...you can replace the whole drain lever assembly which is a dealer part OR you can just replace the little black #90 o-rings inside the drain lever. I had this same problem and many others have as well! There are four hex/star bolts holding the drain lever onto the fuel housing...They are #20 torx?? They are difficult to get to..it is tight in there...I bought a little socket set with the star bit that fit them and it made it much easier...a few bucks at Autozone. Anyway, you simply undo the bolts and slide the black rubber hose off of the drain tube then the yellow lever will come off. You will see the two little #90 black o-rings which will probably have yellow paint on them from wear. Simply remove them with a toothpick or something small and pointy, clean up the area they sit in and re-install two new ones which can be found at nearly any hardware store. Just tell them #90 o-ring. I put a little white lithium grease where the o-rings installed just before putting them in to hold them for re-assembly. This process is really easy. I spent about $1 something and a little tool set for another $10 which was still much cheaper than buying the whole assembly from the stealer. Now, I also no how it works! Your leak will only get worse as mine did the last day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Look here http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/Tech/Dfu...02005-03-28.pdf for a visual and directions...once again you can get those little black o-rings at any hardware store. Thanks for the info Jeff,
I had already purchased the valve assembly toady before I figured out just the O-rings could be replaced. So I just replaced the whole thing. Man what I would have done to have a small set of hands today, it was tight but doable.
