Pulled the cover off of the huge ugly banks air filter box on the 7.3 idi w/gen 1 banks tubo kit. Found the filter was pretty much trash as it was shrunk to small to reuse. Called banks for a replacement element. After talking to the sales rep and the posibility of putting on a new style air intake for the turbo and being quoted way to much for what I was getting I am out to change the setup. I found a thread showing what I would like to do, but can't seem to find the parts to do it. If anybody has an ats intake hat or knows where I can get one shoot me a PM. Here is the thread with what I would like to do.

You should pay more attention when you post, your comment got filtered because the people who run this forum want all the ad impression credit and they are afraid of competition.

Your statement's getting old fast, you couldn't be more wrong. As a poster once said, everyone's entitled to an opinion but it ought to be based on knowledge. If you'd been a member here long enough you'd know there was about 5 pages posted over there of valid reasons why XXXXXX site isn't exactly appreciated by the admin here. Adds and competition don't enter the picture at all.

Your ramblings are getting old fast, where you make assertions but then provide barely any information and no citations.

If you think I'm ignorant enough to repost some of their old crap you've got a lot to learn. Even TDS's original owner and founder's wife's "bustline" wasn't off limits to an insult by one of the clowns when it came to bad-mouthing this site. TDS owner made the mistake of using a family pic of him and wife as his avatar. The old owner and founder was a class act and he put a lot of effort, work and time into making this site a success. Enough said about a sore subject with some of the more knowledgable oldtimers here.

Damn...... Don't feel to far from home.. Almost like a toned down pirate flaming... Any way basicaly the conversion consists of an ats intake hat for the turbo to dump into, some plumbing from the turbo to a large filter, and couple of brackets to fab. Pretty straight forward just wanted an idea of where I could come across an ats hat like the one in the thread I tried to link.

they tend to be coupled with the rest of the parts of the kit. ATS doesn't sell parts for anything older than the 093 kit any more apparently. They may have some older parts if you are lucky.

Some parts, indeed. My kit is a non-wastegated 088/085 hybrid that's missing a few parts. I lucked out with ATS on a C6 transmission dipstick, but failed on the intake snail gasket and valley pan grommet.

Already tried ATS, but was told " we don't have stuff for those old trucks anymore." had to laugh being that i am used to daily driving IH scouts. Much older and parts are not that hard to come by. :icon_rolleyes:

Speaking of incompetents (like ATS) and scouts, I apparently have some rough country 4" scout II lift springs. They sent them to me before they sent me the right springs for my F250. I'd sell them real cheap :)

I still have one of the large square ATS airboxes left. I believe it's almost new. I can dig it out if you want to replace your Banks with it.
You need the ATS intake hat to match the ATS airbox. I pulled my ATS 088 airbox and it's sitting under the sky.

M guessing the 2" width was a giveaway
I'm going to have lifted scout springs soon as well If I can find time to work on the old truck :icon_rolleyes:

You must live somewhere they don't use road salt. All of the daily driven Scouts around here have long since rusted away. Pity too, they are one tough little vehicle.

Thanks for the offer on the springs, but i would imagine shipping would kill me from CA to TN. They do use road salts here, but I am picky when I buy, and I replace lots of sheetmetal. I own a small offroad shop and run it on the side that deals in nothing but IH. Hence the recent jump up a few decades to the IDI. Here is my webpage : hope admin wont axe the link. Not Pimping my biz just wanted to post the mainpage pics of some of the rigs I have built: Home - Old Iron Offroad

Anyway Hijacked the pic that I tried to link earlier. If anybody can hook it up with this intake hat give me a shout.

Interesting site! I had a Scout many years ago and got a lot of use out of it. It didn't take me long to get tired of the vibrating 4 banger so I ended up putting a Ford 289 or 302 in it. It even pulled a two horse tlr easily after that.
