i got a nother truck its an 86 i just realized that there is no water seperater. the whole unit is gone the fuel line comes up the drive side frame rail like it should. but there is nothing on the fire wall. there is just a rubber hose that loops around to the other metal line that goes behing the engine and to the lift pump and so on to the filter on that braket by the altinater. is this ok or should i find a unit and get one back on the truck. wher can i find one. is there any after market ones i can get. what should i do????

Racor also makes a nice water-separator, you do not want the stock unit as they cause a lot of problems.

nice ill have to do that to my daily runner to. probably why its tough to start if it sits more than 48 hours. how often should i change the fillter or can i clean it some how its a bit more expensive to replace. i have for some reason always changed the fuel filter when i do an oil change. at 27 bucks a pop i dont wana do that every 3000 miles.

I run the 30 micron Racor filter letting the Racor remove water while acting as a pre-filter for the 2 micron stock fuel filter. I usually replace the Racor once a year and the stock filter every other oil change(3,000 miles times 2) unless it needs to be changed sooner.
How do I know if it needs to be changed? Once you know your truck you can feel it bog or lose power at high fuel rates, then you change the filter.
