Hey everyone, I havent been on in a while, I have started a new job and moved to a new town so I havent had time to really get on here lately. I need your expertise though. I need to remove the fan clutch on my truck. I need your help with what tools I will need to take it off and how to take it off of the truck. So if someone could give me detailed instructions and the tools needed I would really appreciate it a lot becuase mine is stuck on and it is loud and with it running all the time the engine RPMs have jumped up slightly. So please help me to remove it.

Thanks,

Will /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

go to autozone or the like and rent a fan clutch wrench set.one piece fits over the bolts that hold the clutch to the pulley, the other holds the big nut behind the fan.hold the tool on the bolts steady(you might need to attach that deal to a 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet),then you push on the other wrench towards the passenger side (left)to break loose.good luck!

You will need to make or buy a fan clutch wrench set. AutoZone has one for $40, although you can rent it for free as well (you just get your $40 back). One wrench holds the waterpump pulley by the bolts and the other on the fan clutch flats. remove the bolts holding the fan shroud on and place a piece of cardboard between radiator and shoud/fan. Use the wrenches on the fan clutch (righthand threaded. One it has separated from the waterpump, remove the shroud and fan (with clutch attached) together. Cheers!

I would think that the air hammer method would be fine if the waterpump were being replaced. I just seems that it might be tough on the pump bearings if you're not replacing it. Cheers!

I have used the air Hammer many times. It dont take much to break it loose Just make sure the Belt is still on to hold it tight.
