Hi all,

I could really use you help, I’m stuck at work, truck wont start. Here is story, the wife is coming to pick me up.

It's very cold here in Ohio -8 this morning, i had it plug in over night, started fine seem to run fine, until just 1/4 mile before work, it's about a 15 mile drive to work. it acted like it was not getting fuel, like it was gelled, even though 2 days earlier i put in power service additive.

i tried to leave work, hard to start, cranked a long time finally started, ran for 5-6 seconds, i repeated this 3 times. I I’m close enough to plug it in so i did. I was still thinking it was a fuel gelling issue, so i installed a gauge on the fuel bowl, had one on before but took it off, luckily i had it with me. I also opened the valve on the fuel bowl and fuel seemed to flow just fine. So i turned the key, looked at the gauge, the pressure spiked and settled at 60 psi. Ok so it's not the fuel gelling.

I then noticed that my hand is i was resting on is now covered in oil, damn. the entire passenger side of the engine is covered in oil. oil on top of the battery, air cond. compressor, hood blanket, top of valve cover, but no oil in valley or any where near the fuel bowl or HPOP, and the HPOP hoses seem to be fine. It is dark outside so it is hard to see with a flash light.

It seems to have lost a lot of oil as i am reading none on the dip stick. I'm guessing it's not starting because there is no oil in the HPOP, but i need to find where it is leaking. Also how do i check the HPOP resevior for oil level?

I need to know what to look for or where it might be leaking from, any help would be great.

update to problem

I just wanted to write back with what the problem was.

So i filled the HPOP reservoir and the oil pan, started the engine. Could not find any leak when it was idling. Which was really weird since there was oil covering the entire passenger side of the engine and most of the under carriage. So we increased the revs a little, still nothing. Then around 2200 rpm oil started gushing out of the dip stick, I thought what is going on here, maybe not in those exact works. So I figured the crankcase must be getting pressurized.

The CCV mod was blocked, I took off the hose and that fixed the problem. I could not blow any air through the hose. So I connected a short piece of hose that hangs straight down an exits near the bottom of the engine. It must have frozen in the 0 degree weather, I have had the CCV mod on for 3 years and never a problem.

Any one else ever have this problem, if so what did you do to fix it. The CCv exhaust is stinky so I would rather has it exist near the rear.

How about running a metal line along the exaust , that will keep it warm ....

Make sure it doesn't go up hill any where ...

had that happen to my 00 a few years ago, had the ccv run out by the pass side right at the exhaust.
what I did on that truck was to put a T in the hose where it had the low spot under the trans cross member I pointed one side down and put a plug in it, in the plug I drilled a 5/16 hole. this allowed any moisture out that got in it, then in the winter if needed I could pull the plug, never had to remove the plug and had no other issues.
the other option is to run it back the drivers side and out by the axle, the only problem with this is it looks like the tire is on fire at times.
