Ok bought a used engine from a 99 sd. Tested and drove before buying. Was driven small amount after purchase by previous owner.

When bought had no codes, ran smooth, buzz test sounded good.

changed up pipes, turbo and intakes and installed into 00 f550, all stock 00f550 parts

Starts easily

power not too bad, lots of white smoke

misses at idle, possible injector knock under load

dtc's p0266, p0272 #2 #4 not fully contributing

Also getting p1294 and p1293 high open circuit bank 1 and 2
harness seems good ohms out good

buzz test sounds good strong on all 8 still
all injectors ohm out good

hpop pressure good

btw never drove f550 with old motor. bought blown up. Possible existing prob.

Any ideas?

Should I suspect the idm?

going to pull vc next check for bent pushrods and poor connection. But all checks and ohms out well, from exterior.

So white smoke, miss, and so-so power

???????????????

Fuel pressure would be one of the first things on my list. Also, do you know if the injector codes from the F550 and the "new" engine are the same? If one was single shots and the other split shots - could cause an issue.

Yes both are superdutys and I believe both splitshot.

fuel pressure seems to be good. Looked at that first. Though figure might have misses on more than the same two cyl if fuel pressure was a prob.

Did lots of testing and wire chasing. Looking like the Idm is suspect. Also coincidentally the same cylinder was the big issue in the last blown engine.

Hmm idm malfunction causing injector malfunction. Possibly causing engine failure due to continued operation??

I'd check the fuel pressure as well. I'd also make sure the harness isn't chafed on top of the drivers vc. From there, when ohming out the injector harnesses, you might check them from the IDM connector so you are checking the entire circuit. The biggest problem with the buzz test is the engine is not running, so no vibrations. If the UVCH is loose, the connection may be good while still, but vibrations can change that.

If you are blowing unburned fuel through a cylinder for very long, it will chew that cylinder up. It wipes out the lubrication. Can you pull the IDM out of the 99? It should be a direct swap. Have you done the continuity checks all the way back to the IDM? Here's a worksheet on that:

Have you had your IDM out and inspect it? There have been some that had water in the connector and inside the unit itself.
