I just went and got a new alternator because mine is bad but I havent put it on yet. I have had my truck in 4wd all day due to snow and it is acting very strange. If it sits and idles for a few minutes or if I turn it off and turn it back on, it does this. When I hit the gas pedal it romps like it does when its cold, it has no power and wont even more. So I have to put it in neutral and rev the heck out of it for a little while. I then have to put it back in gear press the gas and after it romps some more like crazy it finally like catches and then will drive normally until it idles for a few minutes again. What does this sound like? Its never done it before and all of the sudden started and it just wont stop. Could this be because of the alternator? any help would be great .

Do the fuel filter... and air filter. my truck was getting a bad romp and stall when it was cold because the filter was clogged up. air filters should always be kept more on the neat and clean side of things.

Advanved auto parts fuel filter with cap... 29 bucks including tax solved my problem.

Is your truck and automatic? If so check the tranny fluid. If low reving can get the oil through the tranny and convertor to make it go.
