Hello All,

I have an oil drip off the bottom of my fan shroud.
It is clear in color with no smell.
I'm thinking trans or power steering fluid.
I can trace where it's coming from.
I get maybe a couple tea spoons worth after driving and parking.
All fluid levels look good.
Just started.

Any ideas.

Could be that your fan clutch is leaking. They use a clear silicone oil in them. The fan should have some resistance to turning when the engine is off. If it basically freewheels, or takes more than an inch to come to a stop if you manually turn it, that would indicate to me that all the oil has drained out of your fan clutch. There's a specific test procedure in the service manual, but the above will give you a good idea if it has gone bad on you.

Are you sure it isn't coolant? Coolant water mix has similar feel of oil.

What jimmy said: If you still have the Ford Gold coolant, it sure looks like that, put a little bit on the corner of a paper towel and try and light with a match (the wet part), if it burns its most likely oil based... but if not it's probably coolant. Not many places for oil to come from that far forward.

Yes, still Ford gold coolant (I drain n refill every 2 years).
Paper towel dipped in it wouldn't burn.
I poured a little Ford Gold next to the puddle, same slippery consistency. Puddle just a little darker in color.
I do have a coolant filter (been on for 20k miles). I will check those fittings again when hot.
Thanks All for the direction so far.
Will keep All updated.

:shrug03: I didn't know the 6.0 had an electric clutch. I assumed it had a thermostatically controlled fluid clutch like our 7.3L's have.

Now that it's been mentioned, I like the coolant for the leak.
