Just registered for this site, lots of good info. I have a non turbo 93 7.3 250 auto, not sure of the rear ratio,I use my truck to tow my race car and camper. love the truck, hate grades. I have installed a K&N filter and had my mechanic turn up the IP, does better, but with out a turbo would an exhaust upgrade be benificial, what else could i do to extract some more power.

Also I was wondering about RPM 60 MPH I run about 1800 could begears maybe but 70 is about 2300 is that normal for these engines?

And does anyone have an opinion on the Hypermax turbo.

Opening up the exhaust would be beneficial but with the towing you are doing you really need to turbocharge and larger exhaust at the same time. Any turbo system be it hypermax, banks, or ats will wake that engine up, I prefer ATS but they are all good systems. Yes the rpms your turning is typical of these trucks. My opinion would suggest you to get rid of the K&N filter and go back to a good paper filter as the gauze and oil filters suck way to much dirt through a diesel engine because the air flow on a diesel is much higher than a gasser.

Banks has 2 kits left for our motors. After that they are all gone and will not be sold again. They will maintain a parts inventory to support those kits sold for 5 years from the buy date. Its a sad day for sure. Last year they sold 1 7.3 kit so its just not good business to keep something that isn't selling. I talked with them yesterday about buying parts.... ATS is better with customer help and service...

Probably tough to sell new $2000 plus when you can find good used kits for a fraction of the cost. I hope ATS gets their website straightened out soon, I haven't been on the phone with them in awhile but they where always great help.

Thanks guys, I know a turbo would be the way to go but i thinks thats going to be down the road a little ways, allready spent to much on the race car last year. basically what I am hearing is thats all shes got! I still like the truck for one it's payed off, two she does pretty good. someone had said there are some after market inj would that help things?
