[Clockwork]

Yesterday when driving my 99 7.3 it was just barely getting warm when it seemed to lose rpms a couple times and then speed up significantly on it's own, not peddle caused. It hasn't done this before or since. Any ideas,

I figure i'll replace the filter but i doubt this has anything to do with it.

Is it happening when you have the pedal depressed? When my throttle pedal was going out it would hesitate then take off according to how far down I had the pedal depressed. Sometimes it would not respond at all. Not a hard fix and the assembly cost me around a hundred bucks at the dealership, a couple of hold down bolts and one plug to replace.
