Hello. I just cleaned my FPR screen a few weeks ago for the first time ever (Didn't know there was one until I found this site). Ever since, when it isn't fully warmed up yet, if I get into it, it misses. After it is at operating temp, it's ok. I don't get a CEL. Is this normal, more fuel flow, not up to temp, incomplete combustion? The screen was packed and I always change the fuel filter every 15K miles since new. Also, I have stage 1 injectors and a chip. Thanks for any info.

I gutted that last year. This only started right after I cleaned the FPR screen. I thought maybe some dirt got in there, but then it wouldn't matter how hot or cold it was, it would do it. Also, I have checked the area for leaks, none. Any other ideas? If it matters, it isn't smoking bad when it is doing this.

Duh, guess I should have read your sig. closer. Good luck. Out of curiousity, are you sure the o-ring is still in it, and there's a good seal between the fpr and filter housing? About a year ago I went to try and scrape the crud from mine, but when I tried to pry the fpr away from the filter bowl/housing, it only gave me about 1/2 inch of give, and was penned up by some other plumbing...(been a few months since I looked at it, can't remember what was in the way). Anyways, I felt like If i tugged and torqued on it anymore that I was gonna break something. Long story short, I put it back together and sad the heck with it. The truck's never felt sluggish to me(since I ditched the stock filter box anyways), and I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Maybe someday i'll be bored enough to tackle it again, but right now she's doing just fine. Let us know what you figure out.

Joe, I am sure that the oring is in it because when I pulled the FPR off, it fell into the valley of death /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Seriously, it took about an hour to get it because I had to unbolt the fuel filter housing to reach it, and then I was just feeling around for it. One thing, in the owner's manual, it says that when you replace the fuel filter, it may run rough, just let it run and it will clear itself out. My truck has never done this. I replace the fuel filter, and it fires right up like nothings been touched. Now, after I did this, it does it, but only when I'm getting into it (after just starting up). I thought maybe it was leaking where it bolts up, but it's dry. Could it be sucking air when off? I thought it was always pressurized with fuel at this point? Thanks for the response Joe, any other ideas?
