This problem concerns a 2003 F350 6.0L Dually.

The WIF light came on and stayed on constantly after draining the HFCM multiple times. So, I decided to take a look under the manifold - removed the drain plug and waited for it to stop draining - and waited - and waited (had less than a 1/4 tank) - and waited. Finally got tired of waiting. "I can do this quick." Says I. Big mistake. Loosened the four screws (quickly) and pulled the manifold away. ***? Pieces of the fuel heater fall out into the pan catching the fuel! Now what? So, I decide (quickly) that I've had about enough of this shower, and attempt to disconnect the fuel lines from the manifold.

Now, stop laughing, because this is where I need help. In my haste, I snapped the blue and white plastic retainer clips on the fuel supply and fuel return lines (fuel tank side of the HFCM) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

When I picked up the HFCM kit from the dealer (they had never even heard of this, btw, and it had to be ordered), I inquired about these retainer clips. After much head scratching, they informed me that I would have to buy the entire fuel line assembly from the HFCM to the tank - none of it is available seperately! $200, thank you very much, oh and it'll have to be ordered.

Any suggestions? (Besides not working on my own truck anymore?)

It is likely you have this problem in addition to broken connectors.

I have seen the connectors sold separately. I am sure that NAPA carries them.

Just came back from the local NAPA - no dice.

Guy behind the counter said that he went through the same thing with his fleet of Ford Rangers. Clips broke and dumped gas all over the place - Dealership said that the whole fuel line assembly had to be replaced, which he did.

He then put me on the phone with a local independent diesel mechanic friend - yup, you gotta replace the whole thing.

I'm not sure I'm wanting to spend $200 bucks on a whole new fuel line when all that's broke is a little piece of plastic - especially if I'm gonna be wondering when it's gonna go again!

Seems to me that there's got to be a better way.
Any ideas?

If you are talking about the line retaining clips that look like a u shape...the fuel filters for the gasser fords, like the 5.4, come with clips. I havent seen the ones you are talking about on my truck, but I havent looked either. Im not sure of the size, but hope this helps.A filter is a heck of alot cheaper than a line assembly

Maybe try an aftermarket 'line' company like fine lines or someone like that. or make your own mold and sell them for 10 bucks a pop /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif Just a thought.

Here is a thread I posted a while back. You might want to mull over it and consider moving your HFCM while your at it. I have a issue when trying to drain mine and will probably add isolation valves to mine when I decide to undertake the task. I have to thank FMTRVT for providing the info.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
