Hey all,

I live in Colorado Springs and will be pulling a lot of the high elevation mountain passes this summer --> ( +10,000 feet )

Since adding the AFE stage II, my turbo surge when pulling is A LOT more noticeable/frequent.

For those of you who have added the wicked wheel to eliminate surge...did it work?

Thanks!

On my brother's '99 it did get rid of the surge. He had it really bad and you could hear the thing stalling whenever we drove up to Westcliffe. We joke that his truck sounds like an air raid siren now but that is due to his TYMAR intake and the WW. I will know this weekend if I have stall when we pull a trailer over Hoosier Pass. This will be my first heavy tow with the new Tipton burn on the PCM.

so the wicked wheel is just to elimiate surge?. but does it gain perf?. i said alot of people using the ats housing with the wicked wheel. do they do this because they dont want to buy a larger turbo? is it more cost effective/efficient. than a gt38bb?.. i have ALOT of surge, way more since i added the stage II afe. i spike 32lbs in moderate weather.

Yes, the goal of the wicked wheel is to eliminate turbo stall/surge.

It is NOT intended to be a performance gainer.

My wicked wheel eliminated most of my surge/stall. I've been through the Eisenhower tunnel a few times pulling my travel trailer. In certain situations it will still surge/stall but I would say it eliminated 95% of it.

The benefit of the ATS housing goes beyond curing the surge, it also helps to lower egts because it will allow more air to flow and maybe pick up a pound or two of boost becuase your removing the 2 and 1/2" bottleneck have way between the turbo and your airbox.
