Hi,
Is it high idle bad for the engine?

On the mornings when I start the van my rpms stays between 650-680rpm.
But when the engine is warmer and even after hour driving the rpms stays at 780-800 all the time when on park or stop lights.

Is it normal?
Or something is going on?

Thanks.

when you start the engine it should idle and rev up after about 30 sec (when cold) the engine shouldn't high idle when warm. if I remember this is a symptom of ICP failing

Thanks yan7gin,
i change the icp sensor month ago because the old one was cover with oil.
Bought new one from lordco(300$) but never change the pig tail with was oily also.
Do you guys think I should change the pig tail also or they just sold me broken icp?
What is the serial number icp for vans?
I remember the guy from lordco had hard times to find the icp number and he sold me icp202.
The shape was diferent from the original one.
Is it wrong icp?

what brand ICP was it? the only trusted one are the OEM one, all the other one are prone to fail. you can try cleaning the pigtail but IMO you should change it. it might also be the EOT sensor or AIT, but start by straining out you ICP

I edited my previous post,
The one I bough was from lordco and the shape wasn't the same as original.
The guy had hard times finding the part number etc.
Looks like the icp is bad or wrong at all then.
Time to go to Ford and buy the oem.
Don't trust the lordco anymore.
Thank you for your response.

I know this is an old thread....Just want to add some info. for anyone that stumbles on it.
Above posts have mentioned (the wrong shape) of the ICP. He may very well have got an incorrect ICP BUT As I recall there was an UPDATED ICP that you would be given (buy) from any Ford dealer. It has a LARGER nut size on it. That's all. Not sure if it's just the new suppliers design of the thing or if there was some reason for it being changed. Sorry. don't know what the size is. (Maybe these things were stripping when they tried to remove them OR maybe just the suppliers design change. Whatever the reason, I just wanted to include that to the thread so when you go buy your new ICP you will know that if it look s a little bigger nut size this is a normal (updated) thing.
