Long story short,

my truck was put in shop for noise, turns out the lifter was going bad, grinding on cam shaft... metal flakes going through system.. truck quit running in shop because flakes went through low pressure oil pump and shut it down. I was shown the scorn on the metal.

shop owner tells me it would be cheaper to buy refurbished engine than to flush whole oil component and buy new oil parts.

Get a long block but does not come with high and low oil components.

Owner now tells me to either send long block back, or buy low and high oil parts.

SHADY.

Over the whole situation, i would rather just replace front end cover and lpop, and have him flush the hp oil rails and hpop to get it running and get it out of there.

am i wrong in thinking the oil rails and hpop can be flushed? or should i replace all oil components.

No.
If flakes went through everything, you need to have all bearings checked. Cam, main, rod, etc.
You probably need a new cam too.

Well I bought a long block with everything but the high and low pressure oil pumps and rails. I got a lpop but just wondering if I can have the hpop and rails flushed

Yeah, just take everything down as far as you can. Solvent tank would work.
Still no guarantee the pumps are good.
