I'm looking at getting an adjustable height hitch for my 2017. As I'm sure you know, it has a 3" receiver with sleeves for 2.5" and 2" hitches. My vehicle configuration is rated for 15,000 lbs conventional towing, which I think a 2" shank can handle. My question for you is, though, is it worth getting a larger shank? The cost isn't that much different and I wouldn't have to mess with the sleeves. What am I not thinking about?

Bigger is better ! Go with the 2.5" ... The ratings are higher and the cost is minimal.

I have 2 Air hitches for my trucks. First one that I bough was a 2" and then second was a 2.5" ( could not pass up the deal ) The 2.5" is a lot more stout !

I might be wrong but i thought that 2" max was 12000lbs....
Hmm... Yes, there is much variation across manufacturers (ignoring the ball size limitations, of course).

What are people's opinions on the Weight Safe brand compared to B&W and Gen-Y?

I went with the 2.5" on my 2014 just to avoid the hassle of the bushing. Now, on the 2017, I'm going to have a bushing, but at least it's only one. The 3" receiver seems to be a waste until there is a ready supply of 3" ball mounts. The B&W Tow and Stow does look interesting, but damn, it's expensive.
